While in desperate attempts to get some sort of life back, she stopped him, he let her. Whatever he saw in her, must've been a lie. Whatever he felt is tainted. He feels nothing now. He feels useless, he's blind. Alone in the dark, he can see her smiling. Smiling because she is without him. He did everything in his power to please her. She liked her game. She knew exactly what she was doing. He never questioned her, never gave her a reason to doubt him.
