Not quite sure who should say what and where to start it all. They talked for a while about their day but it fades into the background letting the air conditioner speak for them. Finally, he looks away. She frowns and does the same. Trying to collect her memories of how they got there in the first place he pretends to cough. She asks him if he's alright and he says no. She already knew that. They both knew this was coming. He kept choking on his words and when the words fell from his lips a tear fell down her face. Two, three, four, there was no stopping them now. She sniffled and threw her hair back. He asked her if she was okay. She didn't answer. They sat in silence for a long while. Neither one daring to make the first move. Because it wasn't really a first move, it would be one of their last. This wasn't like a chapter in their life closing, it was like the rest of the book being torn out. Sometimes they'd shuffle their feet, then there were moments where they'd take a breath in as if they were going to say something but then just deeply sigh instead. Finally he said it. "I'm so sorry. If I would've known I could've met someone who would change my world for the better and make me realize that the sun was really shining I --" he paused. He burst into tears. This was the second time she had ever seen him cry. The first time was when she was in the hospital. They had called her a lost cause -- that nothing could save her. But she was sure that he did. And now her fiance.. her lover.. her friend.. her soulmate had to leave for military duty. It was something expected for a while. They tried avoiding it. They thought of leaving the country. But there was no use. So they held eachother for possibly the last time. And just sat still.
